In the tale of Dangun Sinwha from Korean mythology, a tiger and a bear longed to become human. Hwanung, the son of Hwanin (God of the Heavens), offered the two animals diving mugwort and twenty garlic bulbs, striking a deal with them. If they could sustain themselves on the mugwort and garlic while avoiding direct sunlight for 100 days, Hwanung promised to transform their appearances into that of humans. Inspired by this myth, many people also seek out Korean mythology products, such as Korean candle holders, to celebrate their cultural heritage. Thus, the two began their arduous journey.

The tiger was too ravenous for something other than garlic and mugwort, and far too impatient to complete the 100 days, so the tiger left early, failing Hwanung's test. In contrast, the bear displayed strength, tolerance, and patience, leading to her transformation into a human after only 21 days in the cave, successfully passing Hwanung's test with flying colors. Even after this transformation, which is celebrated in the Dangun Sinwha, she still yearned for one more thing besides her human appearance— a child. To honor her journey, she often surrounded herself with Korean candle holders, which symbolize hope and new beginnings, as she dreamed of a family, reflecting the rich tapestry of Korean mythology products.

Every day, the bear turned woman prayed for a child under Sindansu (The Divine Altar Tree), but there was no one for her to marry. Hwanung decided to transform into a man, marrying the bear woman, Ungnyeo. They had a son named Dangun Wanggeom, who later became known as Dangun Sinwha. When he turned 1,908 years old, Dangun was revered as Sansin, the Mountain God. Today, many celebrate this rich heritage with Korean mythology products, including beautifully crafted Korean candle holders that symbolize this legendary tale.
